Join us on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 14:00 UTC for another in our series of live interviews. This week we’ll be talking with climate scientist Michael Mann, who has written a new book, “The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines.”

Please note the different time than our usual interviews/Hangouts On Air: our interview with Mann will be at 14:00 UTC, 10 am EDT, 7 am PDT. Watch on CosmoQuest’s Hangout page, or on Fraser’s Google + page. We’ll be taking questions for Dr. Mann in the ‘chat’ areas on the Hangout.

If you can’t watch it live, we’ll post the video reply later in the day on Friday.

Ask Mann when he will quit stonewalling and release his U of Va e-mails to Ken Cucccinelli’s investigation. Thanks –

The Virginia Supreme court has ruled that Cuccinelli’s McCarthy-like “inquisition” tactics has no place in academia and that he overstepped his authority.

Not correct. It ruled that U of VA was not a person and could not be compelled to produce like a corporation. Interestingly enough, the ruling did find that the e-mails did exist and were in the U of VA’s possession, opening the U of VA up to the FOIA request from ATI. This is not anywhere over yet.

The question remains: When will he and U of VA release the e-mails produced on the public dime? Cheers –

Mann has been found again and again to be innocent of any wrongdoing. When will the science deniers finally accept that?

Why do you call the very qualified scientists who don’t agree with Mann’s actions “science deniers”? When I studied science there was no such thing as ‘settled science’. Anyone who wasn’t skeptical, wasn’t much of a scientist. Now it seems if you aren’t a yes man for the big money ‘scientists’, you are trashed in the media, and can’t get funding and/or published.
It is indeed a sad day for climate science.
Besides, the real issue right now is a Public funded University illegally failing to comply with a FOIA request.

      Contained in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuccinelligate

Judge Paul Peatross Jr. ruled that Cuccinelli and his staff failed to demonstrate that an investigation was warranted, ruling that “The nature of the conduct is not stated so that any reasonable person could glean what Dr. Mann did to violate the statute…The Court…understands the controversy regarding Dr. Mann’s work on the issue of global warming. However, it is not clear what he did that was misleading, false or fraudulent in obtaining funds from the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

The only crime which was committed with e-mails was the hacking to get them.

Boo! The man hasn’t even spoken on the subject and the deadheads here are already showing both disrespect for another individual. Disagree with the science… fine, but stop being so rude and condescending to someone who just might understand and has learnt more than you!

Goes to show, dunderheaded America law is purely an ass!!
