On the night of November 26, 2011, the Moon was seen next to each other in the sky with planet Venus. This event is called conjunction.
The photo above shows the conjunction of the Moon and Venus as seen from North Carolina, US. This was captured by Tavi Greiner on the sunset of November 26, 2011 when the Moon is a 4% waxing crescent. Check out Tavi’s Flickr page for more astrophotos.

“I waited an waited for the clouds to clear out before the Moon an Venus sunk behinde the horizion. I even gave up an left the house to get x-mas lights for the house,I got 1/2 mile away an saw the clouds clear out a little, drove back home, got the tri-pod an my CanonT1i with 200-500mm lens, set it at AV (1 sec,ISO400,F4) an got 3 frames, this one was the best out 3 due to clouds,(there was a jet passing above the moon).”
