ICYMI: Full Trailer for “Interstellar”

When “nothing in our solar system can help us,” we need to “confront the reality of interstellar travel.” So says the new full trailer from the upcoming film “Interstellar.”

In a word: WOW. And at nearly 7 million views so far on YouTube, this trailer is generating a lot of interest and anticipation. Even before the release of this trailer over the weekend, “Interstellar” has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year, especially for space fans. Details about the plot have been kept fairly secret so far, but here’s what the film’s website says:

In the future, governments and economies across the globe have collapsed, food is scarce, NASA is no more, and the 20th Century is to blame. A mysterious rip in spacetime opens and it’s up to whatever is left of NASA to explore and offer up hope for mankind.

It also says the script is based on the scientific theories and script treatment of renowned theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne.

But this trailer doesn’t reveal how far in space or time the crew must travel. Obviously there’s the ever-intriguing apocalyptic theme and the film has been called the “Great Depression meets 2001: A Space Odyssey.”

The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine, and is directed by Christopher Nolan, (“Inception” and “The Dark Knight Trilogy). “Interstellar” comes to movie theatres in November 2014 and we can’t wait.
