  1. The connection between the magnetar and the magnetic field of the galactic SMBH is interesting.

    1. I recently saw an article that described how astronomers looking at polarized emission from the newly discovered magnetar PSR J1745-2900, which orbits within 10pc of Sgr A*, were able to determine the strength of the magnetic field near the SMBH: http://phys.org/news/2013-08-strong-magnetic-field-milky-black.html

The paper cited in the article mentions that it should be possible to follow the magnetar in its orbit around Sgr A* using VLBI, an exciting prospect: http://arxiv.org/abs/1308.3147

      1. Thanks for the reference. This seems very interesting and worth taking a deeper look at.
