Ah, the nerdy joys of living in the 21st century! Chris Hadfield, an astronaut on board the International Space Station and William Shatner, who portrayed someone in space, were able to talk to each other live. After Captain Kirk opened hailing frequencies, Hadfield replied — using some Star Trek sound effects. Needless to say, when science fiction and reality collide like this, it is an epic day in nerdom.

    “Condition green Kirk out”

  • Mike Petersen

There’s Spock…scratching his head. There’s Scotty, in objvious pain, because Kirk’s head is stuffed…where the sun don’t shine on Scotty. And Kirk is yelling, “Spock! I said beam me up COMMA Scotty!!!”

I think the best part of this is seeing how much Chris Hadfield enjoys the whole scifi/Star Trek thing. From the sound effects, to the references used, (not only this time, but also on twitter) it just makes me happy that “one of us geeks” is up there :-)
