'Hubble discovered that galaxies are speeding away from us ..' NO he did not! He used the results produced by Vesto Slipher at Flagstaff observatory which showed, spectrographically, the recession of objects. Hubble used the info to produce his 'expansion of the universe' theory.
Please give poor old Vesto the credit he deserves; he wasn't as grumpy as Hubble either (or me…)
