Google +1 Button

Hi everyone, if you look over on the right-hand side of the page I’ve added the new Google +1 button to every page on the site. Now you can click that button to endorse pages on the site that you enjoyed. An obvious place to click that button is on the Universe Today homepage. 🙂

If you’re wondering what the +1 button is, here’s what Google has to say. +1 is shorthand for “this is pretty cool” or “you should check this out.” Let visitors recommend your pages right in Google search results and help your site stand out. Here’s more info on the +1.

  1. I enjoy the history of astronomy. I think it is important that all have the realization concerning classifications of galaxies and clusters, that there are no absolutes. There are transitional characteristics of some galaxies and clusters that can sometimes defy classification and could as easily be defined as one class or another.

    The “plus one” idea is interesting idea but I don’t know what Google has to do with it. Anything that you present that has controversy to it I will be more interesting to me as I believe in little concerning present day cosmology. I am an alternative theorist. Classifications of galaxies and clusters, for instance, is not very controversial and it is hard for me to make “valuable” contributions since I will almost always agree that there is logic involved.

    BTW thanks for your hosting of this interesting site and also, Happy Birthday to your dad. Father’s day will be upon us soon 🙂

I know how you guys would like to promote your site, and I think you deserve it but I think google’s implementation of *publicly* plastering your “likes” all over the internet and in their search engine is completely obnoxious and one-sided, and not only that they want to associate it with your real name so you have a trail all over the web for eternity of your activities. No thanks.
