Another week, another roundup of your questions. This week listeners asked: are we all going to die in 2012 when the solar system passes through the galactic plane? Did Venus make the Moon? And what will extraterrestrials see when the Sun is dead and gone? And there’s even more. If you’ve got a question for the Astronomy Cast team, please email it in to [email protected] and we’ll try to tackle it for a future show.

  1. I don’t think any of you idiots listened to this, you just seem to want to spread you guilliable bullshit views. Seriously, get a life and worry about something that matters like the worlds economies. Who do you think knows more a bunch of scare mongering bullshit authors trying to make money, or scientists who have experience in the field of the solar system. You guys are almost as stupid as the people who caused the economic mess in the U.S.

  2. Pavel, that’s part of it.

A good chunk of it was the government telling us to “buy, buy and buy”. So we did. Does that make it ok? No. When the government tells you to do something, especially when it involves buying things with money they don’t have, people for the most part are going to do it.

There was a safeguard called “bankruptcy”. It’s great! Buy all kinds of crap you don’t need and/or can’t pay for, including homes, and then settle your debt for a minimal amount and the companies and lending institutions you bought from get to eat it.

I have credit debt, but it’s under $100 on two credit cards that get used very very sporadically. I just hope that we all come out of this economic crap storm much financially wiser than we went into it.
