Comments are back!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to apologize for the problem with comments we were having for the last month, there’s was an issue with our upgrade to WordPress 4.0. There was an incompatibility with our Theme, and then were having problems upgrading to the next version of the theme without taking the site offline.

Anyway, we were finally able to fix the problem and upgrade WordPress, our Theme and make comments work again.

I apologize for the disruption.

P.S. But now that there’s a new theme, expect some more design changes. 🙂

    1. Hi Fraser, Nice to see the problem with comments is back online!
It’s not easy running a web site as we know. Remember the good ole Text Side days. Lol! Keep up the good work my friend…

  1. So, why were people left guessing for so long? Would it really have been so hard to put in a notice somewhere (preferrably close to the comment section) saying something like “We’re having problems with the comment section, for more details see this article”?

  2. It’s nice to see the comments are back. However, even though I’m logged in, I see ads embedded just below the top story on the main Universe Today page.

  3. Glad to see comments are working again. They really help the articles, so I really missed them.

  4. Hi Fraser, you should probably create a custom theme (it may cost a few thousand dollars) since the website is really slow.
Buying wordpress themes is convenient (and cheap) however when created, themes are loaded with as many options as possible, which hurts website performance. A simpler theme would not only make the website faster, but it would also save you a lot of money on hosting.

Changing the design wouldn’t hurt neither cuz the website does not look that good. There’s a lot of UI inconsistencies.
    Content is great though. 🙂

  5. Appreciate that comments are back, although I do agree with khms. That aside, sincere thanks.

Another issue that’s been a problem for much longer is the tedium of having to log in again every fourteen days, because the cookies that are set on logging in expire after that time. To log in again, I have to perform the following steps:

    (1) Type “/login/” at the end of the URL
    (2) Check Remember Me box
    (3) Enter name, password
    (4) Press Log In
    (5) Click link back to main page
    (6) Refresh page

Type, wait, click, type, type, click, wait, click, wait, refresh, wait. Twenty-six times a year. There has to be a better way, involving cookies that don’t expire so soon.

    1. There was a plugin that pushes the login period out indefinitely. I’ll try that out.

Okay, I’ve set the timeout for 50,000 days. So hopefully you’ll never need to log in again.
