  1. Is it possible to download the Space Hangout as audio? It used to appear in the Astronomycast feed but I haven’t seen one appear for a while now. I did enjoy listening to the latest space news while I was on the move. Thanks.

  2. I do take a bit of an issue with you guys’ (light-hearted, I realize) characterization of Mars One applicants as “not quite sane.” History is full of people leaving their families for missions with the return being in doubt. Explorers, missionaries, and most commonly soldiers. Shackleton’s ad looking for men included the phrase, “safe return doubtful.” People do leave the comforts of family and home and risk making the ultimate sacrifice for a cause they see as being much greater than themselves, great enough to break familial bonds. The Mars One mission, having the ultimate goal of a self-sustaining colony off-world, is arguably far nobler. It’s not just for the benefit of one’s tribe, religion, or country — it’s for every living human and their descendants. It’s the one thing that may make our species impervious to extinction. I applied. Just a few days left, hurry to sign up… 🙂

    1. I agree with William.
Anyone who signs up is probably very sane and fully realizes the commitment and sacrifice that they have made. This isn’t about sanity, its about having a purpose in your life. Many have died for vastly less than the chance, however small, to advance the entire human species.
