- 725 Commonwealth Ave Room 522 - 8:30pm, August 27 - A brief presentation "The Wonders of Mars" will be given by Professor Michael Mendillo at 8:30 followed by an opportunity for guests to view Mars through telescopes in the Coit Observatory. More info

- Drummer Boy Park - 9:00pm, Aug 27 - This is, coincidentally, the date of our regular Wednesday night star party, something we do all summer long. We had a very large and interested crowd on August 20th.
Cambridge
- 60 Garden St - 8:00pm, Aug 26, 27, 28 - The Center for Astrophysics is starting the fall off with a bang -- a special series of events to commemorate the closest approach of the planet Mars in recorded history!! A series of three nontechnical lectures on consecutive evenings the week of August 25, 2003 will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about the Red Planet. Telescopic observing from the roof will follow each presentation, weather permitting, using the newly refurbished 9-inch Clark refractor.More info

- Oak Ridge Observatory - 7:30pm, Aug 24 (rain day 25th) - A sizeable 16-inch reflector and a 6-inch Clark refractor will be open to all, so everyone who visits will get a chance to see Mars. Our astronomers are reporting that the view is spectacular - the best they have seen Mars in the past 30 years!More info
