SHUTTLE LANDS SAFELY IN FLORIDA
-------------------------
The space shuttle Atlantis landed safely at Cape Canaveral, Florida last night, after poor weather kept it in orbit an extra day. Atlantis touched down at 0339 GMT Wednesday morning (11:39 EDT Tuesday night) to complete mission STS-104. During their 12+ days in orbit, the shuttle astronauts installed a $164 million airlock to the International Space Station which will simplify future spacewalks.

ASTRONOMERS SEARCH FOR ALIEN LASERS
-------------------------
A group of Californian astronomers is searching for proof of extraterrestrial intelligence with a telescope instead of a radio dish. They believe that aliens may try to contact us by flashing a powerful laser beam at our star. Although this isn't the first time this technique, known as optical SETI, has been used, it's the most sophisticated and comprehensive search ever undertaken.
