Tony Webb, founder of eSpaceTickets.com, has a vision of making spaceflight available to more than the "chosen few," and speaks to Jennifer Laing about his initiative for celebrating World Space Week 2001 and dream of making civilian space travel a reality. http://www.universetoday.com/html/articles/2001-0604a.html X-43 PROTOTYPE DESTROYED DURING TEST ------------------------- NASA's experimental X-43 prototype was intentionally destroyed on Saturday, when the Pegasus rocket carrying it went out of control. Seconds after it detached from the B-52 bomber, a malfunction on the Pegasus rocket caused it to veer off course - the cause of the problem is still unknown. Had it worked properly, the X-43 would have fired its engines after the Pegasus had carried it to an altitude of 30km and speed itself up to Mach 10. This failure will not affect the rest of the planned test schedule. Instead of coming back in July, astronauts Yury Usachev, Susan Helms, and Jim Voss will return on the space shuttle Discovery in August (when the replacement crew is brought on board). The composite image was created using seven images taken by three different cameras. NGC 1512 is a barred spiral galaxy in the southern constellation of Horologium. Located only 30 million light-years away, it can be seen through many amateur astronomers' telescopes.
