Liftoff from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan occurred at 0111 GMT (9:41pm EDT), and separation occurred over 6 hours later as the satellite was placed into a geosynchronous transfer orbit. Once it reaches its final position, the satellite will provide communications services to Asia. Chandra was used to search for an X-Ray objects that changed in intensity over a regular time period, and matched a similar pattern found with black holes in our own galaxy. They found that dust clouds generated in China can actually cross the Pacific Ocean to North America in such quantities they can play a significant role in air quality and health.
