DELTA ROCKET LAUNCHES NASA SATELLITE
-------------------------
After a one day delay, a Delta 2 rocket successfully placed NASA's new Earth Observing-1 satellite into a polar orbit, along with two other satellites. The $193 million Earth Observing-1 is the successor to the Landsat satellites, and was placed into an orbit exactly one minute behind an older Landsat satellite. This will allow NASA scientists to test the improvements in optics of this new generation of ground imaging satellite

ARIANE 4 LAUNCHES CANADIAN SATELLITE
-------------------------
An Ariane 44L rocket successfully launched its largest single payload yesterday at 11:56pm GMT, when it placed a Canadian Telesat Anik F1 satellite into geostationary transfer orbit. The Anik F1 was manufactured by Boeing, and will provide television service across Canada. This was the 11th Ariane launch for the year.

CASSINI WATCHES CLOUDS DANCE ACROSS JUPITER
-------------------------
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory released two new images of Jupiter's swirling atmosphere taken by the Cassini spacecraft as it speeds past the giant planet. The first movie is of the stormy Great Red Spot, while the second shows bands around the planet. The pictures were taken over several rotations of the planet and at different distances, and then stitched together on computer.
