CHINA PREPARES FOR MANNED SPACEFLIGHT
-------------------------
A top Chinese aerospace official noted in a conference that a manned space flight from the country is not too far off, "at the beginning of the 21st century." Unlike the other space programs, work done in China is a closely guarded secret, and rockets launches are often announced after the fact. Rumours about the manned spaceflight have been flying for several years, and will likely to continue until China announces they happen to have taikonauts (Chinese astronauts) in orbit.

DECREASED LEONID STORM THIS YEAR
-------------------------
Astronomers have predicted that this year's Leonid meteor shower will be no where near as powerful as last year's tremendous event - at the storm's peak, viewers will be able to see about 100 meteors an hour. The meteor shower will peak on November 17-18 as the Earth passes through the dust trail of Comet Tempel-Tuttle. Next year should be spectacular, though, with estimates as high as 10,000 meteors/hour.

MARS MAY STILL BE VOLCANICALLY ACTIVE
-------------------------
Mars might not be as dead as people think. New evidence supports the theory that lava may have flowed on its surface as recently as just a few tens of millions of years ago. A team of US scientists identified recent lava flows on the flanks of Mars' two largest volcanoes. A lander will need to be sent to analyze soil samples to settle the matter permanently.
