Here's a link to see the launch in a variety of formats. http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/video/shuttle/sts-92/html/fd1.html Fraser ************************************** -- UNIVERSE TODAY STORY SUMMARY -- * Discovery is Finally on its Way * MirCorp is Planning an IPO * Sea Launch Heads for the Equator for Upcoming Launch DISCOVERY IS FINALLY ON ITS WAY ------------------------- After four delays, the space shuttle Discovery finally lifted off from Cape Canaveral last night at 11:17pm GMT. This 100th mission for the space shuttle will last 11 days, and include an extensive visit to the International Space Station to install the Z-1 truss and transfer additional supplies - the shuttle is expected to reach the station on Friday at 5:43pm GMT. No problems were reported with the launch. They are currently in the process of deciding which markets they will list on: Asia, Europe and the US. A third MirCorp-financed supply launch to the station is scheduled for October 16, containing fuel and supplies. This time, Sea Launch will be putting a Thuraya-1 telecommunications satellite into orbit on board a Zenit-3SL rocket. The launch is scheduled for October 19th at 6:00am GMT.
