I updated the weather conditions for the various astrocameras taking part in Sunday's lunar eclipse coverage - at this point there are 12 (two came on board yesterday). It's actually looking a little grim, though, since it's the dead of winter in the Southern hemisphere, much of the forecast is for clouds and rain. With this many cameras, though, somebody's got to have sun! If you haven't visited the site, check it out, and don't forget to sign up for the contest. The shell of material is known as the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888), and it surrounds star WR 136 - a rare, short-lived super-hot star known as a Wolf-Rayet. The four Cluster II satellites are replacements for a previous constellation destroyed in an Ariane 5 launch mishap back in 1996. Cluster II will explore the magnetosphere and help understanding of the interaction between the Sun and Earth. Apparently, one of the hackers defaced the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab's website with images of Sesame Street's character Elmo. Although he didn't gain access to sensitive or classified information, authorities say the hacker caused $5,000 in damage.
