A recent survey showed that 42% of people would be willing to pay $10,000 for a trip to space. The dates were chose as Oct. 4th, 1957 was the launch of SPUTNIK 1, and Oct. 10th, 1967 marked the enforcement of the Treaty on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. Spaceweek International has been celebrating an event once a year, but has moved its date to support the UN. http://www.flatoday.com/space/explore/stories/1999b/120899g.htm MICROSATELLITE LAUNCH DELAYED ------------------------- A modified Minuteman 2 rocket will carry a group of microspacecraft has been delayed because of electrical problems. Originally planned to launch Dec. 7th from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, the electrical problem has pushed the launch back an unspecified amount of time.
