GALILEO PHOTOS SHOW HAWAIIAN-LIKE VOLCANO ON IO
------------------------
During its recent flyby of Io, the Galileo spaceprobe captured
detailed images of the Prometheus volcano, which has very similar
characteristics to Hawaii's Kilauea. Prometheus, is much larger
than its Earth twin, and has been active every time it has been
seen over the past 20 years.

DISCOVERY ATTACHED TO EXTERNAL TANK
------------------------
The Space Shuttle Discovery was attached to its external
liquid fuel tank and solid rocket boosters on Friday in
preparation for launch - possibly as early as December 5th.
The mission carries parts to repair the damaged Hubble Space
Telescope, and has been the subject of several delays.

IKONOS IMAGES AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET
------------------------
Denver-based Space Imaging Corp. issued detailed photographs
of several landmarks taken from its commercial spy satellite,
IKONOS. They have plans to sell photos of cities around the
earth from the website, as well as taking custom images for
businesses, government, and media organizations. The camera
has a resolution of 1 meter.

RUSSIAN TEAM COMPETES FOR X-PRIZE
------------------------
Hoping to with the $10 million X-Prize for sending a manned
mission to edge of space, a Russian team, Cosmopolis XXI, has
joined the 16 other teams already working on their solutions.
The craft must be capable of carrying 3 adults to an altitude
of 100 kilometers twice within two weeks.
