European Space Mission

European Space Agency

If you read the history books and a lot of current space related news, you might mistakenly think that the United States and Russia are the only countries that have space programs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many European countries have their own space programs and have grouped together to launch European space missions.

Here at Universe Today we want our readers to have a well rounded knowledge of space and space agencies, so we have written several articles about the European Space Agency(ESA) as well as its contributing countries and missions.

At the bottom of this page you will find links to these articles. It can be difficult to delve into a set of links without having a clue as to what you might find in them, so here are a few interesting European space mission facts and related miscellanea.

The European Space Agency was founded in 1975 and has 19 member countries(2010).

The ESA launches its payloads from equatorial French Guiana, so it is able to place heavier payloads into space. Do you know how that is possible?

The European space mission ExoMars is meant to do a complete geographical survey of the Martian surface in preparation for future missions to the planet. The survey will increase the safety of future missions.

The European Automated Transfer Vehicle can deliver cargo to the International Space Station for a fraction of the cost of one space shuttle launch.

These are just a few of the interesting facts about European space mission history and future that you can find in the links below. Hopefully, you will find everything that you are looking for and, as always, enjoy your research.
