Astronomy Image Gallery

Stars at the Galactic Center

We have put together a astronomy image gallery for our readers. There are hundreds of thousands of astronomy images that can be seen on the internet. We have several thousand here on Universe Today, but the NASA hompage is a great additional resource for astronomy related imagery. Most of these images are freely available, but some are copyrighted, so please respect the copyright. Keep in mind that if you have a widescreen or hi-def monitor, you will need to use appropriate images to preserve image quality and all content.

I thought it might be cool to add a few facts about the celestial objects that you will find in some of the images. Many of the images have descriptions with them, but here are a few related facts.

Saturn is among the most downloaded astronomy images. An astronomy image gallery would not be complete without several of them. There are new images being released regularly.

There are many images of the 160-plus moons in orbit throughout our solar system. There are more moons being discovered by space probes and astronomers theorize even more. Some are larger than the dwarf planets and others are only a few meters in diameter.

Some scientists think that a few of Saturn’s moons have rings of their own that are both faint and overshadowed by the planetary rings.

Some of the most striking astronomy images are of nebula. Many images of nebula can be seen in a wide array of telescopic spectrum: xray, infrared, etc.

In the links below you will find thousands of images. Inside those links you will find additional links to other sites with more available images. We are aware that our astronomy image gallery can not be all encompassing, so if you have an image that would be of interest to us, use our Contact Us form to share it with us.
