As fuel prices soar,so does our need to explore wind, solar, geothermal, and other renewable energy sources. The first step to increasing the use of these energies is to increase the understanding of how they work and to demonstrate the ease that they can be incorporated into our daily lives. The solar cells used to convert the Sun’s energy into electricity were invented over 120 years ago. These cells create direct current which would be great if most of the world did not use alternating current.
A Dyson sphere or Dyson ring is the extreme of solar energy. An entire star would be surrounded by solar cells to capture its energy for a civilization’s use.
