Topics about Light

Morning Sun

Why assemble links to topics about light, you might ask. It’s all around us. It is one of the simplest things on our planet. How could you possible write anything about it that we do not already know? Well, you are right. We are surrounded by light, but it is not as simple as you might think. Understanding light, how it is refracted, and how to concentrate it have led to a vast number of inventions and progress in various fields of science.

To help you understand the contributions that the mastery of light has made to our current knowledge base, here are some links to articles related to topics about light. Instead of jumping into the links blindly, here are a few interesting facts to help you along.

If an various inventors had not understood the methods of refracting light and how it affects the human eye, we would not have corrective lenses, binoculars, nor telescopes.

A black light is also called an ultraviolet light, but it does not give off true ultraviolet light. Huh?

Light travels 87,150 times faster than sound and 22,495 times a speeding bullet. Wonder is Superman can keep up?

Light leaves our Sun 10 minutes before we are able to see it here on Earth.

Light is energy itself and; therefore, exerts pressure on objects although it is negligible. For example, you can lift any coin with a group of laser pointers. Granted, it would take about one billion pointers, but it could be done.

Ultraviolet energy is concentrated to kill microorganisms on any surface and is used in food production and forensic science among other fields.

After reading those few facts, you can see how light is taken for granted and there is still a great deal to be understood by the average person. Can you imagine what else can be found in the links below? Hopefully, you can find what you need and, as always, enjoy your research.
