One of the most interesting parts of astronomy is the observation of celestial objects. Astronomers used to have a monopoly on that, but the internet allowed for an explosion of images to be available to the general public. Here at Universe Today, we wanted to compile as many images that are related to space as possible and to put them in one set of links. It seems that we have done a pretty good job, given the number of images available to you in our rogue’s gallery of space.
All of these images are available to you for backgrounds, wallpapers, or just viewing. A few are copyrighted, so please respect the copyrights of others. If you do not find a specific image in our gallery, try the NASA homepage, Archive.org. Between the two there are well over 100,000 usable images for your pc or laptop.
We also thought that it might be fun to offer you a few interesting facts about some of the images that you can view in the links below.
Images of Saturn are available in all astronomy gallery pages because of its striking rings. Did you know that there are a handful of planets with rings. Saturn gets top billing because its rings are so easily observed.
If you have a wide screen monitor, you have to use an gallery image that is 1280×800, 1440×900 and 1920×1200 to prevent the loss of image quality or content.
In the Small Magellanic Cloud there is a nebula that looks like the head of a T-Rex eating stars. Look in the amazing Photos link below.
Here on Earth, we do not usually think about any Moon rising above a planet other than ours. There are several breath taking photos of moons rising over other planets in the links below. Look on page two in the beautiful pictures links for a spectacular on of Europa rising over Jupiter.
