Examples of Stars

Hot, Young Stars

Stars…there are millions of them twinkling in the night sky. Well, there are millions of light sources in the night sky anyway. Some are stars, others are planets, and the rest are other celestial phenomenon. To sort of separate the wheat from the chaff, let’s look at some examples of stars.

Below are some links to articles here on Universe Today that are examples of stars that you might observe in the night sky. Each article has a great deal of information about its subject star. Instead of letting you dive blindly into those links, here are a few fun facts gleaned from those articles.

Did you know that the North Star has been different stars in Earth’s past and will be again in the future? The next change will occur around the year 3,000. Do you know why it changes?

Hyades is the closest star cluster to Earth, but do you know which star is the closest (other than our Sun of course)?

Many examples of stars appear to be single points of light with the unaided eye, but are binary, or more, systems.

The star that ranks as the third closest to our solar system is so faint that even large telescopes miss it. It has to be observed by the largest telescopes or space-based telescopes.

These are just a few of the hundreds of interesting facts that you can find in the links below. You will more than enough information and examples of stars to write an excellent report or satisfy the most demanding curiosity. Hopefully, you will find everything that you need and, as always, enjoy your research.
