This is an amazing picture of the space shuttle Discovery as it prepares for lift-off at the NASA Kennedy Space Center’s launchpad on August 24, 2009. The space shuttle was launch the next day.

Here’s an image of the launching of the SOHO Atlas II-AS (AC-121) spacecraft held at the Cape Canaveral Air Station on December 2, 1995. SOHO is a collaboration between European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA to conduct an in-depth study of the sun.
