Here are some stunning black hole photos. You can make any of these images into your computer desktop wallpaper. Just click on an image to enlarge it, and then choose “Set as Desktop Background”.

Black Hole Photos

A Black Hole Overflows From Galaxy Centaurus A

This is a photo of the black hole at the center of the Galaxy Centaurus A. This photo was generated from the combined data of the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in Chile and the Chandra X-ray Observatory.

Black Hole Bully

Black Hole Bully

This image features a jet from a black hole at the center of a galaxy. The jet is shown striking an impact to its nearby galaxy. Black holes are caused mainly by spacetime deformation due to a very compact mass.

Milky Way’s Giant Black Hole

This is a Chandra photo of the black hole located at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. The black hole is called Sagittarius A* or Sgr A*. This black hole is approximately 4 million times the mass of our Sun.

Double Black Holes

Double Black Holes

This is a nice image of the starburst galaxy M82 where two black holes are contained. This image was observed from the Chandra X-ray Observatory.

Black Holes Have Simple Feeding Habits

Black Holes Have Simple Feeding Habits

Here’s an image of a black hole found at the center of a spiral galaxy M81. NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and some ground-based telescopes provided data which proved the similarities in the behavior of black holes no matter what their sizes are.

We have written many articles about black holes for Universe Today. Here’s an article about black holes, and here are some facts about black holes.

If you’d like more info on Black Holes, check out NASA Science Page about Black Holes, and here’s more information from NASA from their educational pages.

We’ve also recorded an episode of Astronomy Cast all about black holes. Listen here, Episode 18: Black Holes Big and Small.
