This amazing photo of Mt. Everest was captured from the International Space Station. Mt. Everest is the highest mountain on Earth with a height of 8,848 meters above sea level.
Here’s a nice oblique view of Baitoushan Volcano located at the border of China and North Korea. This picture was taken on April 4, 2003 by an astronaut onboard the International Space Station during the Expedition 6 mission. The photo also features the Lake Tianchi at the summit caldera.
Here’s an image of the fjords in Norway captured by the ASTER instrument flying aboard NASA’s Terra satellite on April 17, 2002. Fjords are narrow inlets which are formed by glacial activities and are an important feature of Norway’s landscape.
This image features the Male Atoll, one of the 26 atolls comprising the Maldives Islands. This photo was taken from the International Space Station on January 12, 2010 during the Expedition 22 mission. The Maldives Islands lie on the vast Indian Ocean.
This is an image of the Santorini Volcano located in Greece. This photo was taken on April 19, 2008 by a crew member of the Expedition 17 mission from the International Space Station.
