Gishwati Forest, Rwanda
Here’s an image of the Gishwati Forest situated in Rwanda. This image was taken by NASA’s Landsat 7 satellite on December 11, 2001. Rwanda is an African country with a total area of 26,338 square kilometers.
Progressive Forest Clearing, Bolivia
This image of the Bolivian forest was taken by an astronaut onboard the space shuttle Columbia during the STS-73 mission on November 1995. These forests, which covers the eastern part of Bolivia continuously undergo clearing to make way for commercial agriculture and logging activities.
Forest Fires in Southern France
Here’s an image of the forest fire that happened in Southern France in July 2003. The image was taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard the Aqua satellite on July 30, 2003.
Piute Fire, Sequoia National Forest
This is a space view of the Piute Fire in Sequoia National Forest which started on June 28, 2008. This image was captured on July 4, 2008 by a crew member of the Expedition 17 onboard the International Space Station.
Madeira's Laurissilva Forest
Here’s an image of the Laurissilva Forest located in Madeira Island. The photo was taken by the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) onboard NASA’s Earth Observing-1 satellite on April 25, 2010.
