Chemistry

Stylized Lithium Atom by Halfdan

If you want to freak out most people, just mention chemistry. Chemistry is difficult for the average person to understand, so many simply shy away from it. In practice chemistry can be fun and chemical reactions surround us each day.

To cover chemistry from beginning to end, one could take a lifetime. To help shorten your search, we have assembled this page full of links to different chemistry topics. We do not expect you to simply jump into a large group of links without a few fun and interesting facts to pique your interest in what we have to offer.

Under certain circumstances hot water can freeze more quickly than cold water.

The Bucky ball is named after a man that had absolutely nothing to do with its discovery!?!?

Most stars require hydrogen to process into helium for fuel. Did you know that scientists have recently found pure carbon stars?

The electron was not discovered until 1897, but the basic structure of the atom was first proposed 2,500 years ago by Aristotle.

The heaviest element on the periodic table is element 115. Only 30 atoms of this element have every been created.

Despite being breathed by humans every day since man evolved, the element oxygen was not discovered until 1772.

Those are just a few of the more cursory chemistry facts that we have included in the links below. There is a great deal of information to assimilate and it is our greatest hope that you find everything that you are looking for. As always, enjoy your research.
