Here’s a photograph of the famous Victoria Falls in Africa. The town on the left of the image is called Victoria Falls, in Zimbabwe. And then there’s a tourist facility on the East side of the falls in Zambia. There’s a small railroad bridge that connects the two sides of the Zambezi River. This waterfall picture was taken by astronaut Edward Lu from the International Space Station.

Our next stop on this tour of pictures of waterfalls is the famous Niagara Falls. This photo shows the Canadian portion of the falls, but there are actually 3 sets of falls that make up Niagara Falls. This photograph was captured by the IKONOS satellite, and is owned by Space Imaging.

We have written many articles about Earth observation for Universe Today. Here’s an article about NASA’s Envisat Earth Observing satellite.

You can get more images of Earth from NASA’s Earth Observatory website.

And here’s an episode of Astronomy Cast just focused on our planet. Listen to it here, Episode 51: Earth.
