I understand that a bunch of egg headed astrophysics-types are lobbying to have the name changed to mysto-space thingie, but I think it would make much more sense to name it Black Emissions Emulsions, or Hanny Bee, for short.

The 'official' name for Hanny's Voorwerp is SDSS J094103.80+344334.2. Take your pick.

Last sunday I saw her speak in Utrecht, NL about her findings and how it all happened. After her speach professor C de Jager tried to explain what this object could possibly be, he spoke about gas jets being shot from the supermassive black hole in IC2497.

That's funny, i participated in galaxy zoo for a while, when i still had the time. And i read the thread in the forum on this. As i also live in holland it immediately caught my attention, as she called it the "voorwerp" from the beginning.

By the way "Hanny" is pronounced exactly as "honey".
