The original press release from Nasa also says; "suggest that these solar temper tantrums may also be able to explain the observations"
We are certainly making progress!
Joking apart, with your knowledge I look forward to reading a critical update of the state of what we really "know".

Exactly right. The Solar Probe mission will fly through the corona. The problem we are having at the moment is a lak of in-situ measurements, all measurements so far have been taken in the solar wind or remotely. To put an instrument in the corona will give us direct measurements of this strange atmosphere. Hopefully explaining some of the strange coronal behaviour...

I should do an article about the Solar Probe soon...
Thanks!

Nanoflares... wow!

Will the Solar Probe (launching in 2015 funding permitting) help answer these questions or is that a different line of Solar research?

Slowly the puzzle's pieces are put into place, but there is still more to go.

Of course, these pictures taken of the Sun during its night-time are fantastic! *wink*
