Hi UT

Excellent news! Perhaps before we head off to Mars we'll be able to predict solar flares, giving the voyagers time to reach shelter.

Also riding the solar wind is one way of travelling between the planets and slowing down from interstellar speeds - via magnetic sails. Being able to track the densest parts of the solar wind will allow the mag-sail to be used to its best advantage.

Wow! Absolutely spectacular video and stills!

Hinode and the other new Sun-pointing observatories such as STEREO are already providing some amazing results, and look set to continue the outstanding legacy of previous great Solar observatories and current observatories such as SOHO.
