One thing is for certain, if we are to outlast the sun (humans) we need to get far from it before it extinguishes. According to scientists, we have plenty of time as the sun is approximately in the middle of its lifetime. For this reason I suppose there isn't a great sense of urgency to accelerate space exploration.
What I don't understand though is how the majority of people lack the will to know what's out there. Wouldn't it be interesting to be able to travel beyond earth within our lifetime? I guess they just haven't thought of that.

Did god create only one sentient race? If it did then why is there so much universe? If we're supposed to disperse into it, it will not be in our current stage in evolution. FACT. The only way for us to crack the secrets of interstellar travel is to be a unified race of humanity, for the task is a daunting one at the least.
BRING FORTH THE CRUCIBLE OF THE RAPTURE TO CATALYSE OUR EVOLUTION.

Knowing that the universe contains so much that we cannot see, and assuming we are the first sentient beings on earth in the sum-odd millions of years it has been hospitable to life in general, why would the creator go through putting all that stuff here if we would never even see it?
Our self-awareness and imaginary vision grant us the potential to be out in the universe, our selfish, short mindedness blocks our path. The human coin must be split and the anchor of "human nature" will be left behind.
True extra -solar human space colonization will not occur unless the entire planet sees it as a piority.

A word to Hans-Peter; Being so specific in listing the benefactors of moon colonization could lead a reader to see you as someoune who would exclude Africans from space, the aperock statement is somewhat redeeming in that you may believe in evolution. Please explain your position.

That's the reason why I would like to live a five hundred years. Just to know if we will succeed or fail to dive into the solar system and become a spacefaring species. Whether we will break down the chains of this planetary gravity sinkhole and once fly and work and rest and trade and consume und dance and love between the stars and even forget the aperock we stem from. The moon is the next small giant leap for Americans, Russians, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Europeans.

Hurry up and get to the moon. For 18 of my 21 years on this rock Ive been looking up and wondering when we will get to Mars and beyond. if all goes well, I will have another 80 years to do the same. Hopefully before my corpse is infested with maggots I will be able to step foot on somewhere other than this C02 filled planet :)

Yep, hurry up, guys! If everything's gonna well, I'll be able to retire on Moon. You know, the gravity makes the Moon paradise for old joints and this stuff ..

Go..Go Go.... I grew up in the era of we will be on Mars in 1990. Sad but true we as a culture failed. Suceed in this effort before I die.
