Photo Gallery: Southwest of Spirit's Landing Site

This image mosaic was taken by the Mars Spirit rover while it was still sitting on its landing platform – the direction is to the southwest of the landing site. The landscape is very flat, scattered with small rocks and occasional shallow depressions; the narrow peak of a hill is visible seven to eight kilometres away. The image was taken using Spirit's Panoramic Camera.

Its an enthralling experience to see recently sent photographs of planet Mars by the spce shuttle phoenix.
The exhibited terrain characteristics amply point to the existence of fluvial system in the past geologically history of the planet and would certainly provide vital clues about the probable existence of life on an indepth sub-surface study of the planet during current mission.
Man kind would easgerly waiting for this discovery. A great contribution to the society by NASA. cheers!!
