If you want to know anything about anything in our Solar System, the NASA is the resource available for free. NASA Solar System resources are beyond reproach and up-to-date at all times. Of course, with such a vast array of knowledge, it can be hard to navigate their webpage and find exactly what you are looking for. Here are a few of the more heavily used NASA solar system resource pages and what you will find on each page.
NASA’s Solar System Exploration page offers everything related to space exploration. News and current events, multimedia, interactive, technology, and educational opportunities. The page covers everything from missions: past and present, to the people involved with NASA space exploration programs.
Where the Solar System Exploration page is geared for older teens and adults, SSE Kids is oriented for the younger future astronomers. All of the information is similar to the adult page, but worded so that kids of any age can understand it. There are also educational resources for children.
Here is a great tool for those of you who want a taste of what things look like from space. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory offers a simulator where you can choose a celestial location and view the Solar System from that object. I took a 120 degree look from Phobos.
If you want to stay caught up with the latest NASA Solar System news, then the NASA Solar System News feed is for you. Be sure to sign up to get emails as news releases are posted.
Additionally, no research is complete without a relevant image. NASA has that covered as well. NASA’s photojournal page offers some truly amazing images covering a great expanse of our Solar System. There are many more images from outside of our Solar System for those of you who want to expand their understanding of what surrounds us in space.
This is just a very short list of NASA Solar System resources. There are literally thousands of links within NASA’s website. IF you are looking for information that is not contained on the site, you should be able to find a link to a reliable, authoritative article elsewhere on the internet or a book that can be referenced.
I hope you find this list of NASA Solar System resources helpful. We’ve got lots more articles here on Universe Today about NASA.
We have recorded a whole series of podcasts about the Solar System at Astronomy Cast. Check them out here.
